890cc CP3 liquid-cooled 4stroke 3-cylinder engine
The R9 is powered by Yamaha's award winning 890cc CP3 liquid-cooled three cylinder DOHC 4-valve-per-cylinder fuel injected engine. The bore and stroke of 78mm x 62mm and 11.5: Compression ratio provides both excellent torque and ample power which when combined with the new control offered by the Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCCT) offers optimal performance on both the track and the road. The final ratio ignition timing and fuel mapping are all optimised for Supersport performance.
